This was handmade by Leah Selei and her group. She oversees 27 women from her village beading circle in Ngong’. They create most of our teardrop accessories. They are mothers and grandmothers. Proceeds from the sales are shared among the women to help provide basic needs for their families.
The beadwork on these is so neat and even, you can tell each pair was strung by hand. I wore them to a wedding and got three compliments before dinner even started.
The teardrop shape is lighter on my ears than I expected, and the beading is really neat and even. Wore them all day at work and forgot I had them on.
The craftsmanship is truly something special—you can feel the care in every bead, knowing these were made by a circle of mothers and grandmothers. They’ve got a nice weight to them that feels substantial without pulling on my ears, and the teardrop shape catches the light beautifully.
